Trek Overview:
Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek is no doubt one of the most spectacular treks in the world. Nanga Parbat is the ninth-highest mountain in the world and the second-highest in Pakistan after K2. It is located in the Diamir district of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Nanga Parbat is the western anchor of the Himalaya. It is separated from the Karakoram range by the mighty Indus River. It rises directly from the Indus Valley.
The breathtaking scenery of the majestic fairy Meadow and driving on the famous Karakoram Highway make the Nanga Parbat base camp trek an amazing Trek in the world. This Trek will take you to the leafy, green, steep hillside and waterfall of the western Himalayas.
Nanga Parbat is not a single peak but consists of a 20 km-long series of peaks and ridges culminating in an ice crest of 8,125 m. Its South Face is known as Rupal Face (5,000 m) high, while the North or Raikot Face plunging over (7,000 m) from the summit to the Indus forms one of the world’s deepest gorges. It was first climbed in 1953 by a joint Austrian German Expedition. Hermann Buhl made the final ascent in a torturous 41-hour solo ordeal without oxygen. Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner climbed the south face (Rupal Face) with his brother Gunther in 1970, descending by the Diamir face. The south face is the largest in the world, extending over four kilometres above base camp. To date, there have only been five ascents from the south.
Trango Adventure has been organising the Nanga Parbat Base Camp trek for many years. We offer both essential and luxury Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek. The following itinerary is an example of what we can offer. You can follow the standard itinerary below, or we can customise the trip by adding the Hunza Valley and Skardu.
Our staff will meet and greet you at the Islamabad International Airport. You will be transferred to the group hotel in Islamabad for a rest. We will meet again in the afternoon for a briefing about the Nanga Parbat Base Camp trek. After spending a night in Islamabad, you will head towards Chillas via the Karakoram Highway. Today, you will be driving and trekking for 6 hours among quiet richly wooded scenery, winding up along the side of some gorge, with nothing huge to look at, just a lush, leafy, Region of steep hillsides and waterfalls, you will come round a corner where the view opens up the valley, and you are almost struck senseless by the blinding splendour of that vast face of ice-hung precipices and soaring ridges, sixteen thousand feet from top to toe, filling a whole quarter of the heavens at a distance of only a dozen miles. That is the mighty Nanga Parbat, the most beautiful and challenging mountain on earth. You will spend one night at the fairy meadow and then walk to the base camp of Nanga Parbat. Spend the night under the stars in your cabin and enjoy the thin air at the base camp.
After visiting the mighty Nanga Parbat, you will head back to Fairy Meadows and spend the night in the comfortable cabins. You might have a bonfire and barbecue tonight. The next day, you will trek for two hours to Tatu village, take the jeep to Raikot bridge and travel to Islamabad for the night stay. You will spend one night in Islamabad, and we will transfer you to Islamabad airport for your flight back home. The trip will conclude here. Remember to book your return flight on the last day of our itinerary.
The itinerary below is for our 9-day-long Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek (Raikot side ) from Islamabad to Islamabad. Please check our “Round Nanga Parbat Trek” if you want a longer Trip.

MEAL PLAN
ACCOMMODATION
During the Nanga Parbat base camp trek, the group will spend all nights in a good standard hotel and Tents. Accommodation at each of these hotels and tents is twin-sharing with en-suite facilities. If you are travelling by yourself, you will be paired with another single client of the same sex. It is possible to hire a single room for an additional cost. Additional hotel nights in Islamabad are also available. For hotel prices and single supplement costs, please contact us. Hotels are subject to availability, and prices may vary.
HEALTH & VACCINATION
You should contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you specifically require any vaccinations or other preventive measures. You should be up to date with routine courses and boosters as recommended in the UK, e.g. diphtheria-tetanus-polio and measles-mumps-rubella, along with hepatitis A and typhoid. Malarial prophylaxis is discretionary for this trip. Malaria exists in the area around Islamabad. However, incidences of urban transmission of malaria are extremely low. In Chilas and the mountains, there is no malaria risk. A good online resource is Travel Health Pro. Dengue fever is a known risk in places visited. It is a tropical viral disease spread by daytime-biting mosquitoes. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available, and therefore, the best form of prevention is to avoid being bitten. We recommend you take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
INSURANCE
We highly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance for your trip with Trango Adventure Pakistan. We recognise the complexity and variety of choices in the insurance market and know that many of you either have your preferred insurer or have annual multi-trip cover in place already. If this is the case, please ensure that your insurer is aware of your Trango Adventure itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken.
Trango Adventure does not provide any advice on travel insurance, although it is highly recommended that you have travel insurance that covers the activities which you are likely to undertake on your holiday.
It is strongly recommended that suitable cancellation insurance be purchased at the time of booking, as all deposits (Royalty Fees) for the Expedition are non-refundable and non-transferable.

MOUNTAIN GUIDE & SUPPORTING STAFF
ALTITUDE
The Nanga Parbat base camp trek involves going to a high altitude. During your trip, you will be above 3,500 metres for 1-2 days. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but we must follow some simple rules to acclimatise successfully. Before coming on this holiday, you should get some basic advice on Tours at high altitudes.
CLIMATE
From mid-June to August, we can expect to encounter temperatures as high as 40°C in Islamabad and Chila and 25°C in the Nanga Parbat region. The weather is generally good throughout the summer season, with clear skies and little rain or snow. However, the weather in mountainous areas is difficult to predict, and short-lived storms can occur at any time.
