It is important to note that if you are arriving or departing from Pakistan, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could cause travel plans to change without notice. If you are planning to travel to or from Pakistan, you should check your country’s specific travel advisory information for travel restrictions and entry requirements.

At the moment, according to the WHO, there is a risk of contracting COVID-19 in Pakistan. The COVID-19 risk in Pakistan could increase or decrease at any time before, during, or after your trip. 

Before travelling to Pakistan, you need to know the requirements of leaving and returning to your home country. For example, you may need to be fully vaccinated to exit or enter your home nation. In terms of vaccinations, the NHS UK recommends travellers should be vaccinated for polio before visiting Pakistan if you plan to stay in the country for four weeks or more allowing with being vaccinated for COVID-19. If you have been vaccinated for polio, a booster should be taken before visiting Pakistan. 

Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must follow the entry requirements of Pakistan. Travellers to Pakistan age up to 6 years old no longer need to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken up to 48 hours prior to beginning their journey to Pakistan. 

Passengers aged 18-years old and older do not have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Full vaccination is NOT required for you to undertake inbound flights to Pakistan. Travellers from the UK to Pakistan can either show their per test or proof of COVID-19 vaccination record. Travellers are not allowed to use their NHS appointment card from vaccination centres as proof of vaccination status.

The following protocols for Pakistan were put in place on February 24, 2022:

• Pre-boarding negative PCR has been abolished for fully vaccinated inbound travellers. However, non-vaccinated individuals over 12 years will require pre-boarding negative PCR (72 hours old)
• Mandatory full vaccination for all inbound passengers less exemptions granted vide our letter no 801/A/Ops III/NCOC-01 dATED 06 06 January 2022.
• Passengers below 12 years of age are exempted from mandatory vaccination.
• Passengers between 12-18 years of age are allowed to travel without mandatory vaccination
• RAT on arrival for deportees and non-vaccinated pedestrians at Border Terminals, Positive cases will be home quarantine for 10 days.

Travel advice for visiting all destinations in Pakistan

If you are preparing to travel outside of your country of residence, your health needs will be determined by your specific situation. Your specific situation includes:

• your final destination
• the length of your stay
• the activities your participate in
• tour overall health.

It is advised that you consult with your doctor six to eight weeks prior to travel. If the trip begins earlier than six to eight weeks, it is still important to contact your healthcare practitioners. Vaccines alone won’t prevent you from contracting COVID-19. You should take precautions to prevent contracting and/or spreading the disease by wearing a mask, washing hands regular, and distancing yourself from others. 

It is important to know that if you are unwell after you return home from your travels, you should inform your doctor of your trip to Pakistan or to any other country. 

Do you need to quarantine?

Quarantine rules for returning to your home nation differ from country to country. In terms of the UK, travellers do not need to quarantine upon returning home. COVID-19 protocols for the UK detail specific tests do not need to be taken before and after returning to the country. 

Certain countries currently only allow essential travel to Pakistan to take place. Countries such as Canada and Ireland have different travel advisories to Pakistan.
