Mountaineering Holidays

Summer Mountaineering trip to Pakistan’s Karakoram and Himalayan regions starts from May and finish in October. Most trekking and mountaineering trips in the Baltoro region of the Karakoram mountains require trekking and climbing permits, our advise is to book as early as possible to arrange all the permits and logistic in good time. What to bring

For trekking and mountaineering trips in Pakistan, we provide sleeping tents, mess tent, kitchen and toilet tent, all kitchen cutlery and other camping equipments including foods throughout the trip. You should bring a sleeping bag good for extreme cold, and several changes of clothes, a main rucksack and also a day pack to carry water bottles and other day equipment. Your rucksack will be carried by a porter, but check the weight limit; you will be charged extra if you exceed it. Bring a sun hat, warm-weather clothes and lots of sunscreen; it could be hot and dusty at the beginning of the trail. Sunglasses are important. But also pack heavy coats and other clothes suitable for the subzero temperatures later. A satellite phone is a good idea. Also important: strong, waterproof hiking boots. Getting there

Pakistan has good flight connection from all over the world. The main International Airports are in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Islamabad is the nearest International airport if you are planning a mountaineering or trekking “trip to Pakistan”. There are regular direct and stop over flights to these main cities from all countries. Most stop over flights are through Turkey, Abu Dhabi or Dubai. A return ticket from London to Islamabad, a recent web search showed flights in early march on Etihad Airways, the airline of the United Arab Emirates and PIA starting at £450 return tickets. Other flights on multiple airlines ran closer to £550 return.

The journey from Islamabad to the mountains is usually by Air (45min), we will usually book this for you, it is included in the package, though flight schedules are often busy and depend on the weather. in case of flight cancellation, we will make the journey via the Karakoram Highway to Skardu & Gilgit, the chief northern staging point; the trips takes 16-20 hours Drive.

Pakistan visa

All foreigners coming to Pakistan need to have a Passport which is valid for 6 months at the time of arrival. Pakistani embassies/ consulate in your home countries are authorised to grant a visa/tourist visa for three months validity. You can apply for the Pakistan visas online or physically visiting, some embassies also allow you to send the Visa Application by post. Foreign nationals can only apply from their country of origin OR from the place of legal permanent residence.
